Covid 19 : Top ten performing states during week 29-6-20 to 4-7-20
Covid -19 is maintaining
unpredictability.Mainly due to irregular human activities. Some states who once
had got a peak of active cases and number of active cases started falling thereafter, suddenly faced
arrival of infected people from other
parts and their pattern changed.
So while there were 14
states in my list of best performers during previous review, this week I have
only 10 in my list. However, I will also discuss the failure of states this week
who had performed well during previous week.
So let’s start with the
top 10 states for the recent week ending 4-7-20
1. Lakshadweep
Islands : Since detection of
first corona case in India on 30-1-2020, which was found with a Kerala person
having travelled Wuhan,China, today after 5 months and 5 days when total figure
has come close to & lakh, there is no case in these group of islands.Hope the
covid-19 episode may end wth same nil case recorded.
2. . Mizoram : This state has shown sudden improvement due to
sudden rise in number of recovered patients ( 61 person at a time on 30-6-20,
out of total 160 cases. As a result the total number of active cases, during this
week came down from 96( on 28/6/20) to
34( 4/7/20). The silver lining is that there is no death reported so far .
3. .Chandigarh : This week it was better than ever. the total number of active cases, during this week came down from 89 (on 28/6/20) to 58 ( 4/7/20).6 deaths were recorded upto 15th June and since then there is no death case in the last 20 days.
4. Himachal Pradesh :Due to flattening of new cases curve and steepening of recovered cases curve, the total number of active cases, during this week came down from 377 ( on 28/6/20) to 327 ( 4/7/20).10 deaths so far out of total 1066 cases..
5. .Ladakh ;The peak observed on 23rd of June proved real and since then the number of active cases are continuously falling. the total number of active cases, during this week came down from 376 ( on 28/6/20) to 178 ( 4/7/20).Only 1 death so far .
6. .Manipur : Peak apparent on 25 June still behaving like a non prominent peak and cases are slowly coming down. The total number of active cases, during this week came down from 730 ( on 28/6/20) to 677 ( 5/7/20). Total 42 deaths have taken place out of total 3124 cases. The silver lining is that there is no death reported so far.
7. Haryana : The peak of 21st of June proved real and since then the active cases are gradually reducing. The total number of active cases, during this week came down from 4689 ( on 28/6/20) to 3796 ( 5/7/20).
8. .Sikkim :
This state is fighting neck to neck. Not
allowing the active cases to rise 49 cases on 19th June and 51 on 4th
July.Good fight indeed.
9. .Uttarakhand : The peak observed on 26th of June proved real and since then the number of active cases are falling. The fall rate has reversed after reaching an all time low on 3/7/20 ( 498 cases). But it is too early to assume this reversal as permanent. The total number of active cases, during this week came down from 749 ( on 28/6/20) to 530 ( 5/7/20). Total 42 deaths have taken place out of total 3124 cases.
210 Delhi : For the first time,Delhi is recovering , mainly
due to very fast rate of recovery of old patients, compared to rate of new cases
coming. The total number of active cases, during this week came down from 27847 ( on 28/6/20) to 25038 (
5/7/20). Total 3067 deaths have taken
place out of total 99444 cases.
Now let’s discuss why some
states which were earlier good performers could not figure in this list .
Meghalaya : After a peak of 30 active cases observed on 10th
june and a base-touching graph upto 21th
June , it had come to its bottom value of 3 cases on 25-6-20 .Everyhing was
looking fine and encouraging till 28th June .( pic 01/01)
Suddenly due to arrival of
people from outside state, like a person from Assam and some Armymen from other
parts of India, who were detected C-19 positive the number of active cases shot
up .It now is looking like heading for another peak . So we can say that
situation worsened and new peak may be even higher than the earlier peak of 30
active cases. It is seen in newspapers that Meghalaya govt has requested Central
govt not to send new persons on transfer to Meghalaya during these days.Till
situation really improves , this state is taken out from the list of good
performers.
Assam : During almost flat graph between 14-28 June the bump of 26th june followed by fall on the next day gave a hope that 26th June may be the peak point. However, the graph started rising more sharply since 29th June due to faster rate of arrival of new cases. The rising trend is continuing .
Sensing trouble, state govt has taken some big measures like state wide complete lockdown for 2 weeks wef 28th June and conversion of Maniram Dewan Trade Center ,Guwahati into temporary hospital for Covid-19 patients . Till situation is controlled , this state is taken out from the list of good performers.
Tripura : Some disappointment here also. After a Considerable improvement 2 weeks back and steady state one week back, the state is now witnessing gradual rise in number of active cases since 29-6-20.
It was mainly due to
arrival of 49 people ,residents of same
village of Assam from Chennai by a single train .Also there were reported cases
at Bangladesh border. In single sentence, number of cases increased due to people
coming from outside.
Since this can be
stopped from being repeated, we hope better performance in next week so not
removing this state from the list of good performers.
Bihar : The active cases reached a low on 26/6/2020(
1953 cases) but since then rising gradually ,now as on 5/7/20, there are 3005
active cases. The main reason is mass gathering during social functions,
ignoring all threat and arrival of
workers from outside. The biggest strength is low mortality rate indicating high
immunity of people of Bihar. Hope this state returns back to good performers
list by next week.
Well researched Anilji and good analysis. Good to know that Delhi is shifted to top performers group. Please continue your work and postings on Covid... I am eager to know your views about Maharashtra, my home state at present.
ReplyDeleteThe day Delhi and Mumbai come under control, it will be India's victory over Corona ๐
Mumbai is a terminus. so people cannot spread to create social distancing.Mumbai will recover only after vaccine is developed and administered.Till then the biggest challenge is to manage the rising number of patients. In my opinion infected people should be continuously transported in isolation ward design trains to outer areas where hospital beds are vacant. In initial 2 days they are more or less comfortable enough to travel. In my earlier blog I have given some information on the availability of hospital beds pan India.
